Animals have a unique habit of paying close attention to moving objects. Therefore, a whip being waved up and down will attract them much more than small handheld weapons.

For example, a flying bird or a running animal is quickly detected by a dog.
The clothing people wear or the wooden stick, the whip they hold, are all perceived by wild animals as extensions of humans. Therefore, whether it’s a dog or other wild creatures, when their instinct kicks in, they will first charge at the part that is moving – that is, they will first go for the hand or the whip. Animal trainers take advantage of this habit by waving a stick or whip to capture the animal’s attention, guiding it to perform necessary actions.
In unfortunate circumstances where a wild animal genuinely wants to attack, trainers can exploit this instinct by ensuring the animal charges at the waving object first, thus achieving the goal of protecting themselves.
