Not the familiar red clay, the running track for athletics at the Paris 2024 Olympics has turned purple.
The Paris 2024 Olympics is currently underway with great excitement. This time, the organizers have made numerous changes, and the color of the running track is one of them.
Instead of the traditional terracotta color found on tracks around the world, the Paris Olympics has chosen a purple hue. Tony Estanguet, the president of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, revealed that this idea aims to create a vibe that is “cheerful and festive.” The track will feature three colors, two shades of purple (one lighter, resembling lavender, and a darker one) along with gray on the outer edge of the track.
“We really like the color purple because it helps us stand out from conventional colors,” the athletics director of Paris 2024 disclosed.

Alica Schmidt, dubbed the “most attractive athlete in the world,” was extremely astonished when she first saw the Olympic running track in Paris.
In a video shared on her Instagram, the German athlete was taken aback by the new look of the Stade de France stadium.

The athletics track at the Stade de France (France) – where the competitions of the “queen of sports” will take place – is made up of vulcanized rubber tiles produced by a factory of Mondo in Northern Italy.
In addition to its impressive appearance, these rubber tiles are specially designed to enhance elasticity and adhesion, with optimal shapes and sizes of air pockets that reduce energy consumption and improve performance for athletes.
The organizers hope that these improvements to the athletics track will help athletes set many new records. Three years ago, the traditional terracotta track at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (Japan) witnessed three world records and 12 Olympic records being established.
