There are two main reasons related to water that prevent sea snakes, despite their presence in many oceans around the world, from invading the Atlantic Ocean.
Sea snakes are a group of venomous snakes that live in marine environments or spend most of their time in the ocean, although they have evolved from ancestors that lived on land. Sea snakes are found in warm coastal waters from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. A common characteristic of sea snake species is that they have a flattened, horizontal body structure similar to eels. Unlike fish, sea snakes do not have gills and must frequently surface to breathe. Most sea snake species possess strong venom. In Vietnam, sea snakes are known by various names such as: [snake] đẻn, [snake] đẻn biển, [snake] đẹn, [snake] hèo, ông hèo, etc. |
