This cold air mass has arrived very dry, with few clouds and plenty of sunshine, resulting in the lowest temperatures typically occurring at night and in the early morning. During the day, the cold is less noticeable.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, a meteorologist from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, provided this information regarding the cold air mass affecting the northern region on the morning of November 21.
According to Ms. Binh, due to the influence of the cold air, temperatures in most parts of the Northern Delta are expected to drop to around 20-22 degrees Celsius at night and in the early morning, while mountainous areas may see temperatures fall below 17 degrees Celsius.

At the Trùng Khánh weather station in Cao Bằng, the lowest temperature recorded on the night of November 18 and early morning of November 19 was 18.8 degrees Celsius. Last night and early this morning, it dropped to 16.6 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, in the capital city of Hanoi, the Hà Đông weather station recorded a low of 21.5 degrees Celsius early on November 20.
“Residents should note that the forecast indicates the lowest temperatures dropping to 20-22 degrees Celsius, with mountainous regions below 17 degrees Celsius. Winds in the Gulf of Bắc Bộ will be strong at levels 6 to 7, with gusts reaching level 8. During the day, there will be few clouds and sunshine, so we will perceive little change in weather.”
“This cold air mass is very dry, resulting in a lack of clouds and sunny conditions. In fact, the lowest temperatures usually occur at night and in the early morning. Data from the weather station network in the north also shows that the lowest temperatures are decreasing,” Ms. Binh stated.
Ms. Binh emphasized that due to the continued sunshine, daytime temperatures may drop but not significantly, making them less perceptible. The drop in nighttime temperatures can increase the temperature variation between day and night, which can impact our health, especially respiratory issues…
One important factor to consider with the arrival of cold air is the northeast winds in the Gulf of Bắc Bộ, which will strengthen, causing rough seas and affecting shipping and maritime activities. Fishermen and those involved in maritime activities should exercise caution when going out to sea to minimize risks.

Additionally, today and tonight, rainfall is expected in the regions from Hà Tĩnh to Quảng Bình and Bình Định, with showers and localized heavy rain of 20-40mm, and some areas may surpass 60mm.
