Soleolico Combines Two Clean Energy Sources in One Turbine Design to Ensure Continuous Power Supply All Day.
Soleolico Energy Company unveiled the world’s first solar-powered wind turbine on October 6, designed to harvest wind and solar energy for 24/7 electricity generation at the Magdalena Palace in Santander. Soleolico’s technology revolves around a patented magnetic system that adjusts the wind-catching direction of each solar-powered turbine to capture energy from all 360 degrees, according to Design Boom.

According to Soleolico, the foundation for the solar-powered wind turbine comes from over 10 years of research and 30 prototypes, alongside designs that combine wind and solar energy storage within a single unit. The energy company has also incorporated a 3D-printed outer shell resembling a tree trunk, utilizing Pure.Tech technology from its partner LaMáquina, which absorbs and transforms carbon emissions into clean air. One of Soleolico’s turbines has been installed outside the Magdalena Palace for public viewing.
Soleolico states that their turbines are cost-effective and can operate without external power stations. By harnessing green energy from both wind and solar sources, their technology ensures a continuous energy supply. The design is highly flexible and compact, reducing complex installation processes and minimizing impact on the surface soil. The turbine model comes in three versions, including the Bespoke version designed by architect Firàs Safieddine and a version that connects directly to high-voltage power lines and poles.
According to Soleolico, their “2-in-1” wind turbine is 25% more efficient than current wind turbines. The technology is silent and operates at low speeds, allowing birds to safely perch on top of the turbine.
- For business facilities, the solar panels can be adjusted to display signs or advertisements. Soleolico has not yet disclosed plans for mass production of the turbine models, but the display model at the Magdalena Palace could help the public visualize 24/7 renewable energy generation.
