After two setbacks, Microsoft has decided to distribute Service Pack 3 for its most popular operating system via the Windows Update system starting today.
At the end of April, the American software giant was forced to halt the release of SP3 due to compatibility issues between the operating system and the Retail Management System (RMS) software. XP SP3 also prevented users from installing Vista SP1.

A few weeks later, Microsoft had to patch Windows Update again as it caused computers using AMD processors to continuously reboot when updating to SP3. By the end of June, the upgrade was once again added to the automatic system, but it still did not resolve the issues on AMD PCs.
Microsoft hopes they will have better luck with this third announcement, which comes a week after Windows XP “retires.”
