The Guinness World Record has officially recognized an American woman for her “incredible” burp, measuring an astounding 107.3 decibels.
Burping is a normal bodily function that occurs when the body expels air through the mouth. Due to the sound produced, it is often considered an impolite action in public in some countries, leading many to suppress their burps.

For Kimberly Winter, a young woman from Maryland, USA, her extraordinarily loud burps are a source of pride.
According to the Guinness World Records organization, Kimberly has been officially recognized as the loudest female burper in the world. Her recorded achievement of 107.3 decibels surpasses the previous record of 107 decibels set by an Italian woman in 2009.
To put this into perspective, a sound intensity of 107.3 decibels is almost equivalent to the noise level at a concert, the sound of a car horn, or at major sporting events.
Researchers at Yale University have noted that this sound intensity is at a very high level, potentially dangerous to human hearing if sustained for more than 30 minutes.
To achieve this impressive record, Kimberly prepared her body meticulously. She had breakfast featuring some hard-to-digest foods, along with coffee and beer. This combination appears to have been a long-standing experiment for Kimberly, playing a significant role in breaking a record that had stood for 14 years.
Kimberly revealed that she has been able to produce loud burps since childhood, but felt extremely embarrassed about this ability. In fact, her burps have startled many family members on numerous occasions.
Although they have grown accustomed to it over the years, Kimberly is still sometimes asked to hold back her burps, especially when others are sleeping or enjoying their personal space.
The young woman from Maryland recounted that a few years ago, she began to realize her burps were unusually loud. Kimberly was even asked to leave a bar where she worked because her burping was too loud.
However, the young woman has skillfully turned her perceived flaw into a strength.
Thanks to the rise of social media, Kimberly has built a loyal following online. On TikTok, Kimberly, known by her nickname “Kimycola”, has amassed thousands of fans simply because they enjoy her unique burping sound.
She began experimenting with different foods and drinks to maximize the volume and length of her burps.
Kimberly has also come to enjoy surprising and impressing those around her with her ability. “The expressions on their faces: amazement and disbelief. I love that and it makes me happy,” Kimberly shared.
