Kristy McMullen and her associate Patrick astonished netizens when they “hunted” a amethyst – a type of semi-precious stone – weighing up to 4 kg in a mine in Western Australia.

McMullen shared that last month, while the two were working at a small-scale mining site, they unearthed a six-sided gem filled with colors.
“We were working together in an area rich with amethyst when this beautiful stone revealed itself. This is the largest we have discovered at the amethyst mine since we arrived here,” she recounted.

McMullen later shared with Yahoo Australia that this stone is valued at $3,500, and a stone of such size is quite rare, especially in Australia.
Many netizens expressed their awe at the impressive size of the amethyst, delighted by its “perfect” shape and praising that “it seems to be cut into a beautiful form.”
“It’s amazing. I still can’t believe they are hiding underground out there just waiting to be discovered,” commented one user.
“I’m heading there. Finding my own crystal will be my number one goal on my to-do list,” another user excitedly expressed.
Amethyst can be found throughout Australia, including in crystal form, but amethyst and citrine are less common.
McMullen has spent at least three weeks at the mine, sharing photos on social media of the many large and small amethyst specimens she has discovered.
According to her personal profile, McMullen is a “remote crystal hunter” and gem seeker. Her page also features jewelry made from various gemstones.
