Dover Demon
This creature was sighted three different times in Dover, Massachusetts, on April 21 and 22, 1977.
Based on its appearance, it has been speculated whether this being is an extraterrestrial or simply the result of some scientific experiment, perhaps involving humans from another planet.

The Dover Demon is described as having a large, watermelon-like head, bright orange eyes, long, slender arms, and spindly legs. It has no hair, with rough, bumpy skin that is brown, resembling sandpaper.
The Dover Demon lacks many facial features, such as a nose, ears, and mouth. It stands about 90 cm tall and emits terrifying sounds likened to a combination of a hawk’s screech and a snake’s hiss.
Jersey Devil
This creature is believed to have been sighted by a resident of Pine Barrens, southern New Jersey, with stories about it dating back to the 1800s and into the early 20th century.
The Jersey Devil is described as a bipedal animal with claws capable of flight. Its wings resemble those of a bat, and its head looks like that of a horse.
Jersey Devil
The legend of this creature originates from the tale of “Mother Leeds”—a local witch who summoned demonic beings while giving birth to her 13th child. Upon birth, the baby transformed into the creature and flew away to a nearby vineyard.
The Jersey Devil is said to have wreaked havoc in many farms with its footprints and strange noises. In the early 1900s, many residents of New Jersey and surrounding areas claimed to have witnessed the creature, accompanied by various pieces of evidence, particularly unusual footprints that terrified many.
Flatwoods Monster
The Flatwoods Monster is said to be an extraterrestrial being that was spotted. Some witnesses claim to have seen it hovering in the air, while others reported it resting on the ground in Flatwoods, Braxton County, West Virginia, on September 12, 1952.
Flatwoods Monster
According to reports, it is described as a massive creature, standing at least 3 meters tall. Its face emits a red glow while its body is green. Its head resembles a heart or the ace of spades, with two large, round eyes that are not human-like.
However, its body resembles that of a human dressed in a black suit akin to a dress. Descriptions also indicate that the Flatwoods Monster lacks arms, or if it has them, they are short and stubby with claw-like fingers.
Mothman
Mawnan, Cornwall in 1976 is the first site where a being known as the Mothman was reportedly sighted.
The first sighting occurred on April 17, 1976, when the creature was discovered hovering above the Mawgan church tower with a frightening face. By August 1978, all the neighborhoods surrounding this church reported sightings.
Mothman
Surprisingly, this moth-like being is human-sized, with pointed ears, red eyes, and claw-like talons. Its body bears some resemblance to the famous Mothman, featuring large gray wings.
Interestingly, there have been numerous reports of unidentified flying objects or strange animals in the vicinity prior to the Mothman sightings—similar to the case involving the Mothman.
Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp
Among the list of frightening and peculiar animals, the Lizard Man deserves a prominent place. It is believed to inhabit the swampy areas around Lee, South Carolina.
The first sighting occurred on June 29, 1988. The Lizard Man is described as over 2 meters tall, bipedal, with green scales and bright red eyes.
Lizard Man
According to some reports, the Lizard Man has three toes on each foot and three fingers on each hand. The tips of its fingers have round membranes that allow it to grip tightly when climbing walls or ceilings.
It possesses extraordinary strength, evidenced by the damage inflicted on vehicles of those unfortunate enough to encounter it. The Lizard Man has the ability to throw a car far away.
Bunyip
For those born and raised in Australia, the Bunyip is quite familiar. The Bunyip is a creature that appears prominently in the mythology of Australian Aboriginal peoples. They are said to lurk in swamps, riverbeds, and waterholes.
The Bunyip resembles a giant starfish walking on land. In the 19th century, many writings described its face as resembling a dog with black fur, and it has a horse-like tail. Its limbs resemble flippers, with tusks similar to a hippopotamus and either horns or a beak like that of a duck.
The Bunyip
In an article published in 1845, the Australian Bunyip was described as follows:
“The Bunyip is a unified combination of the features of a bird and a crocodile. It has a head resembling that of an ostrich with a long beak, with a transverse muscle protruding on either side of the beak and a serrated mouth like that of a stingray. Its body and limbs are somewhat crocodilian. Its hind legs are thick and strong, while the front legs are longer but still possess great strength. They have very long claws, leading Indigenous Australians to believe that to kill one, a prey must hold it tightly until it dies. In the water, it swims like a frog, and when on land, it uses its hind legs, with its head always held high, reaching a height of about 3.6 meters.”
Sigbin
The Sigbin is a terrifying creature from the Philippines, often lurking in the darkness at night and sucking the blood of its victims from their shadows—this is how it avoids detection by other creatures, especially humans.
Sigbinns are said to walk backward with their heads lowered between their hind legs. They possess invisibility, making it easy for humans to be deceived.
Sigbin
It resembles a goat but has no horns, only large ears that can flap like hands and a flexible tail like a whip. Notably, Sigbin is said to emit a very foul odor. Sometimes they tend to wander at night to devour children alive.
In 2005, scientists in Borneo discovered a fox-like carnivore with hind legs longer than its front legs. It has a quite clumsy gait and a very frightening appearance, which is thought to resemble the Sigbin, but no definitive conclusions have been reached.
8. Canvey Island Monster
The Canvey Island Monster is the name given to an unusual creature that washed up on the shores of Canvey Island, England, in October 1954. A more intact specimen was discovered in August 1955.
According to a study in 1954, this monster measured 76 cm in length with thick, reddish-brown skin, bulging eyes, and gills.
It had no forelimbs, and its long legs had five claw-like toes, seemingly well-suited for bipedal movement.
The Canvey Island Monster
Its body was cremated after scientists conducted a preliminary examination and deemed it a danger to humans.
In 1955, a similar creature was discovered, but it was significantly larger, measuring 1.2 m tall and weighing 11.3 kg. These specimens were still relatively fresh, with red eyes, two nostrils, and teeth available for research. However, no official documentation regarding this monster exists, nor any explanation of what happened to its remains.
9. Pope Lick Monster
In most accounts, the Pope Lick Monster is depicted as a half-man, half-goat creature grotesquely transformed from a human.
It is described as robust, with hairy legs like a goat and a white face featuring a hooked nose and large eyes. The monster has a sharp, short horn protruding from its forehead, hidden beneath long hair of the same color as its leg fur.
The Pope Lick Monster
Many legends recount the existence and origin of this creature, including how it attacks its victims. According to some records, the Pope Lick Monster uses hypnosis or mimics voices to lure prey to their deaths, such as standing on the tracks of an oncoming train.
Other stories assert that this monster can leap from bridge supports onto the roofs of cars passing beneath. Additionally, it attacks victims wielding a bloodied axe.
10. Goatman
The Goatman is a beast bearing the terrifying features of both a human and a goat, such as having horns, claws, and deformed features. It appears to be a characteristic image of a forest deity in Greek mythology.
However, many witnesses claim that this monster is not merely a figment of myth but rather a real-life predator, a bloodsucker not to be underestimated.
The Goatman
In 1957, the first reports of a hairy, horned monster emerged in the Forestville and Upper Marlboro areas of Prince George’s County.
Then, in the summer of 1962, allegations surfaced that the Goatman killed around fourteen people, including 12 children and two adults, while they were walking near its lair. Of course, some managed to escape, but their bodies were so mangled that they were unrecognizable.
Witnesses claimed that the Goatman aggressively attacked its victims, using an axe to tear them into pieces while emitting terrifying sounds that only it could produce.
11. Chupacabra
The name Chupacabra might still be quite unfamiliar to many of us. The first sightings of this mysterious creature were recorded in the 1970s. However, it wasn’t until 20 years later that Chupacabra truly emerged as a phenomenon in Puerto Rico. Locals reported that this creature had killed a significant number of ducks, chickens, rabbits, and even goats on their farms.
Descriptions indicate that Chupacabra is roughly the size of a chimpanzee and hops like a kangaroo. Its eyes are large, red, and bright, while its skin is gray. Additionally, witnesses have reported that Chupacabra has hairy arms, a snake-like long tongue, sharp fangs, and may even have wings.
12. Jersey Devil
This monster is known as a terror in the early 20th century for the residents of New Jersey. The frightening appearance of the Jersey Devil led people to believe it was an omen of war.
Research indicates that over 2,000 American citizens have encountered this creature. It stands about 1 meter tall with a dog-like head but a horse-like face. The Jersey Devil has a long neck and wings that span 0.6 meters.
13. Mothman
During a span of 13 months from November 1966, a strange creature named Mothman was repeatedly sighted in southern Virginia. This was the first time in America that hundreds of people claimed to have seen a winged humanoid creature.
Mothman is at least 2 meters tall with wings over 3 meters wide. Its skin is scaly and gray, while its eyes are large, bright red, and mesmerizing. Mothman can fly at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, and its screech can disrupt television and radio signals.
