Some Cat Breeds Can Bring More Problems Than Joy.
Many Vietnamese families keep cats. Some people love these four-legged animals so much that they have several at the same time. However, few realize that certain cat breeds can bring more problems than joy.
Here are the cat breeds that veterinarians recommend you avoid:
Scottish Fold
The Scottish Fold is a breed originating from Scotland. These kittens enchant people mainly due to their unusual folded ears. The ears of these cats become that way due to weak cartilage.
However, the cartilage is not only weak in the ears but also in other parts of the body. Because of this, such pets often suffer from arthritis, which can eventually impair their mobility.
Bengal Cat
The Bengal cat mostly has a striking orange and light brown coat. With their unique coloring, people are often willing to pay a significant amount to own such a beautiful pet. However, veterinarians do not recommend choosing a Bengal cat as a pet.
Many do not know that this breed is a hybrid between the Asian leopard cat and domestic cats. The name ‘Bengal’ comes from the subspecies of the Asian leopard cat, which has a wild appearance with spots and a white belly, and a body structure quite similar to that of the Asian leopard cat. Therefore, these animals have a very complex temperament and behavior, leaning towards the wild side.
Persian Cat
The Persian cat is another popular breed. Many people are captivated by them, often unaware of the health issues associated with their distinctive flat noses. The nostrils of Persian cats are too small, causing the bones in their noses to be tightly compressed.
Additionally, these cats often have a soft palate at the back of their throat and abnormal tear duct function, which means that Persian cats frequently encounter eye problems, making them somewhat challenging to care for.
