Every day, your energy is consumed by various tasks, both useful and unnecessary. How can you ensure that your resources remain abundant? The best approach is to identify the reasons why you’re expending so much energy, which will lead to appropriate solutions.
There are times when you feel like a washing machine that’s overloaded. Pressures from family, work, friends, relatives, and neighbors all converge at once. How can you have enough energy to handle such overwhelming stress? It’s possible but not always easy since you may not have enough time to sleep. Typically, busy individuals should apply the following six strategies:
Avoid Overcommitting
This is a common habit for many people, becoming a hard-to-change trait. At the same time, you want to accomplish everything at work while also being the perfect wife and mother at home… When too many responsibilities pile up, you won’t have enough energy to complete them all.
Solution: Practice self-control and learn to say no at the right moments. Saying no to others or certain tasks means you are saying yes to yourself. Find it difficult? Start with small refusals, and gradually, you will develop the habit of saying no, even to seemingly important tasks.
Stop Proving Yourself
This is one of the biggest drains on your energy. The need to prove oneself stems from various sources, including childhood dreams of becoming a teacher, pilot, doctor, or an exemplary parent…
Solution: Write down your desires and plans, including a timeline for achieving them. While you wait to accomplish each one in a clear order, don’t worry too much about what others say and expect from you, as you have your own clear plan.
Also, remember to impress yourself daily with small yet effective gestures like dressing well according to your style, light makeup, polite manners, having good friends, and cultivating healthy habits…
Let Go of Worry
Worrying consists of negative thoughts swirling in your mind, which can follow you into sleep and turn into nightmares. You likely know by now the harms it causes: fatigue, anxiety, sadness, irritability, and diminished self-confidence. This is certainly another cause for losing energy unnecessarily.
Solution: Cultivate a habit of positive thinking. It’s best to find solutions instead of sitting idle and worrying. When everything is laid bare, you will understand the roots of your worries and won’t feel burdened anymore.
To achieve this, decisively dismiss any negative thoughts that lack basis and clarity as soon as they enter your mind.
Stay Organized
Your workspace is cluttered with papers, office supplies, food, and sometimes even trash… In the kitchen, the sink is overflowing with pots, plates, and plastic bags. In the bathroom, dirty clothes are piling up on the hook, giving off a musty smell after days without washing. Stress is inevitable!
Solution: Start decluttering everything to clear your mind. Don’t get discouraged if you’re unsure where to begin. Prioritize tasks either by order or by area, breaking them down into smaller, manageable pieces.
Avoid Jealousy
Comparing yourself to others is self-harm. Everyone has their own life, work, personality, circumstances, and relationships. Therefore, don’t waste time and energy feeling jealous or sad.
Solution: Understand that everyone can shine in their unique way. Today it may be a friend or colleague, but tomorrow it could be you who is celebrated by others.
Cast aside feelings of envy and the habit of comparing yourself to those around you. This can lead to other negative traits that cause you to be less liked and respected. Always live with joy and a carefree heart.
Eat Well
After a day of work, from around 4:30 PM onwards, you face new pressures: kids coming home from school, preparing dinner for the family, tidying up the house… Rushing and eating hastily without the necessary nutrients will drain your energy.
Solution: Plan to reduce your workload during this time. You can share responsibilities with your spouse or family members. Additionally, help your kids understand that they need to assist their parents and be more responsible for the family.
When the kids are home, take about 30 minutes to stop working and spend this time guiding them on simple tasks appropriate to their age and ability. Later, while they’re working, you can sneak in a light snack like chocolate or chips. This not only serves as a treat but also replenishes your energy.
