Heavy rainfall in Malaysia and southern Thailand has caused severe flooding, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes, leading to numerous fatalities, and impacting hundreds of thousands of households.
Amid the distressing images of the flooded communities, a particularly shocking image has emerged, with many viewers claiming it left them “terrified.” This is a video of a giant snake swimming – or floating – in the floodwaters.
Here is the video:
This video was recorded in Pattani Province on December 1, but was only recently posted online by Bangkok Post, quickly garnering nearly 400,000 views. Additionally, it has been viewed nearly 2 million times on a nature website.
Internet users who watched the video expressed their fear, uncertain if it was a snake or some kind of monster.
“This is actually a reticulated python that has swallowed something quite large. It is lying on its back, which means it is either dead or exhausted,” explained an animal expert. |
Some news outlets later reported that the python had swallowed a dog.
