Silkworm larvae are a suitable food for patients with fatty liver disease as they help reduce serum cholesterol and improve liver function. They can be consumed in various dishes or ground into powder for drinking.
Traditional medicine does not have a specific diagnosis for fatty liver disease. However, based on clinical symptoms, it can be categorized under the condition of “accumulation.” Suitable foods for this condition include:
Shiitake mushrooms: These are ideal food for individuals with fatty liver disease. Shiitake mushrooms contain compounds that can lower cholesterol levels in the blood and liver cells.

Corn contains a high amount of unsaturated fatty acids that can promote the metabolism of fats in general, and cholesterol specifically.
Goji berries: These have the effect of inhibiting the accumulation of fat in liver cells, promoting liver cell proliferation and improving fat metabolism.
Tea leaves: Folk wisdom suggests that tea leaves can help eliminate fatty substances. Modern research shows that tea can increase vascular elasticity, reduce blood cholesterol, and prevent fat accumulation in the liver.
Lotus leaves: These also help reduce blood fat, decrease obesity, and prevent fat accumulation in liver cells. They can be used as an infusion with boiling water to drink instead of tea or cooked into lotus leaf porridge.
Celery: Rich in vitamins, it helps cool the liver, lower blood cholesterol, promote the excretion of waste substances, and cleanse the blood. It should be regularly included in meals.
Regarding beverages, it is recommended to use one of the following herbal teas:
– Dry tea 3 g, Alisma 15 g. These two are steeped in boiling water in a closed container and can be consumed after 20 minutes. They help protect the liver, break down fat, promote diuresis, and reduce weight.
– Dry tea 2 g, Curcuma 10 g (can be substituted with yellow turmeric), roasted licorice 5 g,
– Dry tea 3 g, Kudzu root (sliced) 10 g, lotus leaves 20 g. All ingredients should be chopped and steeped in water to drink instead of tea. They detoxify, lower blood fat, and aid weight loss. You can also simply use fresh or dried lotus leaves chopped and steeped in water daily, which is beneficial.
Note to avoid fatty foods such as animal fats, brain, and liver; and spicy foods like ginger, garlic, chili, pepper, alcohol, coffee, and strong tea…
