Saltwater crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) are the largest reptiles in the world. In Australia, these creatures typically inhabit river mouths, mangrove swamps, and coastal wetlands in Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory.
Adult saltwater crocodiles can weigh up to 1,000 kg and exceed 6 meters in length. They can swim at speeds of up to 18 km/h, according to the Australian Reptile Park.
Saltwater crocodiles can drift for days or even weeks at sea and along rivers to hunt prey along their path. They can consume fish, mammals, and birds but are also known to kill anything they encounter, including sharks and humans.
