While walking down the street, a man was suddenly attacked by a hyena, causing panic among bystanders.
The incident occurred in Kharpudi village, located in Pune city, Maharashtra, India.
Hyena attacks a man.
In the video, an elderly man dressed in white is seen carrying a bucket and walking with a cane. Moments later, a hyena suddenly leaps out from the bushes and attacks him.
In response to the aggressive behavior of the fearsome animal, a man in a red shirt nearby immediately ran away. Fortunately, among the passersby, a motorcyclist stopped and rushed to assist the victim.
This individual wielded a long stick to drive the hyena away. However, the hyena turned back and attacked the motorcyclist. Luckily, the animal eventually fled due to the fierce counterattack from the human.
After the attack, the carcass of the hyena was found about 45 kilometers away. It is believed that the hyena had been injured prior, leading to its erratic behavior.
Hyenas, which originate from Africa and the Indian subcontinent, are relatively large animals. They are considered one of the most aggressive and greedy terrestrial carnivores.
This species typically lives in packs and often clashes with lions or leopards to steal their food. In these encounters, hyenas rarely lose their lives due to their reckless nature, sharp teeth, and pack lifestyle, which often allows them to outnumber their opponents.
It is noteworthy that in India, attacks by hyenas on humans are extremely rare. If the hyena had not been injured, it would not have acted so boldly in broad daylight.
