Today (October 24), Typhoon Trami is expected to enter the East Sea. Both Vietnamese and international weather models indicate that as the typhoon approaches the waters off the central provinces of Vietnam, it may turn back out to sea. However, there is still a chance that the typhoon could make landfall.
As of 1 AM on October 24, the center of the typhoon was located over land to the east of Luzon Island in the Philippines, with maximum wind speeds near the center reaching levels of 9-10 (75-102 km/h), gusting to level 12. In recent hours, the typhoon has been moving quite rapidly to the west-northwest at a speed of 15-20 km/h.
Both the Vietnamese Meteorological Agency and international meteorological organizations agree that this will be a typhoon with a peculiar, complex, and unpredictable path due to the influence of multiple factors.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that today, the typhoon will enter the East Sea, slightly weakening due to friction with Luzon Island. By 1 AM on October 25, the typhoon will be located over the waters to the east of the northern part of the East Sea, maintaining intensity at level 9, with gusts reaching level 11.
After that, the typhoon will begin to strengthen again. By 1 AM on October 26, when it is approximately 510 km east of the Paracel Islands, the typhoon will intensify to level 10, with gusts reaching level 12.
By 1 AM on October 27, the typhoon will strengthen to levels 11-12, with gusts of level 15 as it moves over the waters north of the Paracel Islands. Subsequent developments regarding the intensity of the typhoon remain complex.
Forecast path of Typhoon Trami according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Regarding the path of the typhoon, the Vietnamese meteorological agency states that this will be a peculiar and unpredictable typhoon. In the next three days, the typhoon is expected to move primarily to the west and west-northwest. As it approaches the waters off the central provinces of Vietnam, its trajectory will be highly unpredictable due to the influence of various conditions.
The most likely scenario at present is that by October 28, as it nears the central coastal waters, the typhoon will change its course to the southwest and move back out to sea. However, there remains a probability that the typhoon could make landfall in the central provinces.
The meteorological agency advises the public to continuously update themselves with the latest forecasts regarding Typhoon Trami.
Due to the influence of Typhoon Trami, the eastern waters of the northern East Sea will experience strong winds of level 6-7, with areas near the center of the typhoon experiencing levels 8-9 (62-88 km/h), gusting to level 11, and wave heights reaching 3-5 meters, with 5-7 meters near the center, resulting in very rough seas.
All vessels operating in these dangerous areas may be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.
On land today, the predominant weather across the country is mostly dry and sunny, with the northern region experiencing cooler temperatures at night and in the morning, with lows ranging from 19-22 degrees Celsius, and mountainous areas below 19 degrees, while the maximum temperatures will be between 29-32 degrees Celsius.
