Researchers from the University of Chile have stated that the vaccine named Egalitte will prevent sexual and reproductive behavior in both male and female dogs by stimulating antibodies and inhibiting the production of sex hormones for one year.
This vaccine has garnered interest from many dog owners as it offers a way to manage their pets’ reproductive desires without the irreversible methods previously available. Additionally, this vaccine alleviates the concerns of pet owners who are hesitant to undergo surgical procedures due to fears of risks and side effects.
The research team indicated that they began developing this vaccine in 2009. Starting this month, the vaccine is available in Chile for $50 per injection. The Egalitte vaccine has been patented in 40 countries, including the United States, Argentina, Brazil, and across the European Union.
