“Dancing” with dolphins can be a fantastic therapy for alleviating neurosis, thanks to the emotions formed when interacting with these lovable marine creatures.
Nature lovers often believe that communicating with animals can dispel any worries, but this has long remained anecdotal without scientific documentation to verify it.

Dancing with dolphins can effectively help you relax. |
Recently, two psychiatric experts, Christian Antonioli and Michael Reveley from the University of Leicester (UK), conducted an experiment on the therapeutic effects of dolphins on 30 individuals suffering from mild to moderate neurosis. All participants stopped taking neuroleptic medications and psychological therapies for a period of 4 weeks. Subsequently, half of them participated in a dolphin therapy program, which involved playing, swimming, and caring for dolphins for one hour each day over the course of 2 weeks. The remaining participants engaged in outdoor activities like snorkeling at coral reefs without any dolphins.
The results indicated that both groups showed signs of improvement in their conditions; however, the improvement was particularly significant among those who interacted with dolphins. The reduction in symptoms in the dolphin therapy group was double that of the control group. More than 20% of the participants in the dolphin group reported reduced anxiety, while only 11% of the control group experienced the same.
According to the authors, the therapeutic effects on neurosis may be attributed to the dolphin’s echolocation system, their characteristic beauty, and the emotions that arise from interacting with these animals.
