According to the Ministry of Health of Peru, a strange disease has emerged in the northern part of the country. Infected individuals experience fever and vomiting blood. Hundreds have contracted the disease, and 8 people have died.
On December 29, the Epidemiology Department of the Ministry of Health of Peru reported that since the beginning of this week, a mysterious illness has surfaced in the Antôtuntút community of the Agoaruna indigenous people in the Amazon rainforest region of northern Peru. This outbreak has resulted in at least 8 deaths, with 109 people suffering from fever and requiring mechanical ventilation in hospitals.
According to doctors, the disease may be transmitted from animals and has a very high mortality rate, with 8 out of 10 infected individuals succumbing to the illness.
Symptoms of the disease resemble those of Yellow Fever, including vomiting blood.
Currently, doctors have sent samples of the infected individuals to the capital city of Lima for analysis and further research.
In recent years, indigenous communities in Peru have frequently been afflicted by various strange diseases with high mortality rates. This is largely due to the country’s healthcare system lacking sufficient funding to build adequate hospitals and provide vaccinations for the population.
