During the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day holiday, the North is forecasted to experience widespread hot weather, with temperatures rising significantly across most provinces and cities. Even after the holiday, temperatures may continue to increase.
The Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day holiday in 2024 falls on April 18, which is next Thursday. Many workers are requesting leave on Friday to enjoy a consecutive 4-day break (from Thursday to Sunday) to spend time with their families.
According to current forecasts, next week, the Northern and Central regions of Vietnam will experience widespread heat, with daily maximum temperatures in several provinces reaching 36 – 38oC. On the actual day of Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day, temperatures in the capital city of Hanoi are expected to reach 40oC in the afternoon, with similar or slightly varying temperatures in other provinces and cities.

Due to the East-Southeast winds, the North will remain quite humid in the mornings and evenings, with humidity decreasing only during midday and afternoon when temperatures rise. However, the chance of rain across the region is low, making it convenient for families to go out, take photos, and travel.
After the holiday (starting April 20), the widespread heat will continue, and temperatures are predicted to rise further, with Hanoi again reaching 45 – 46oC, while many other provinces may exceed 40oC. Therefore, residents enjoying outdoor activities during the hot days should drink water regularly and avoid being outside during peak sun hours (noon and early afternoon).
Weather forecasts for the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day holiday are relatively long-range (10 days or more), so the certainty is not as high as short-term forecasts. However, major weather websites such as Weather.com, Time and Date, and AccuWeather are all predicting a heatwave around that time, both in our country and in several other Southeast Asian nations.
