The Berlin Zoo in Germany has recently introduced its new pair of twin Red-Handed Tamarin monkeys. These newborns arrived at the zoo on September 17, but they have yet to be named.
The name of this monkey species is derived from their distinctive red fur on their hands. They are among the smallest monkeys in the world, standing at approximately 25 centimeters tall and weighing less than 1 kilogram.
These tiny monkeys are primarily found in the Amazon region of Brazil, where they live in close-knit groups of about 20 individuals.
What makes the Red-Handed Tamarin particularly special is that the entire family participates in caring for the young. This species mainly feeds on fruits, but small insects and eggs are also part of their diet.
