In an article in Scientific American, Professor Avi Loeb questions the connection between UAPs and the strange object Oumuamua, which was discovered in 2017.
Avi Loeb is a renowned scientist in the field of astrophysics and cosmology. He proposed a controversial hypothesis, referring to Oumuamua, the object that flew past Earth and disappeared mysteriously, as debris from an extraterrestrial civilization. Recently, when the U.S. Department of Defense publicly acknowledged the existence of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), Professor Avi Loeb raised questions about the relationship between Oumuamua and UAPs.
Professor Avi Loeb has repeatedly questioned whether Oumuamua is debris from another civilization outside the Solar System. However, most of his colleagues believe that this object is simply a small comet.

According to him, the Pentagon has only confirmed that UAPs are real but has not been able to explain what they are. If these flying objects are man-made—originating from China or Russia—they would pose a threat to U.S. national security. In this case, information about UAPs would be classified military information that the government would never disclose to the public.
Therefore, the professor believes that U.S. officials have determined that UAPs are not products created by humans. This leads to two possibilities: either UAPs are natural astronomical phenomena, or they are sent by an extraterrestrial civilization.
Professor Avi Loeb suggests that both directions contain new and intriguing secrets that humanity has yet to uncover. He proposes shifting the study of UAPs from security and political agencies to scientific organizations.
Recalling the sudden appearance of Oumuamua a few years ago, Avi Loeb suspects there is a connection between UAPs and this fascinating astronomical phenomenon. He believes that the only way to find accurate answers is to collect more scientific data to clarify the nature of UAPs.

In 2017, astronomers discovered a strange object flying past Earth with an unusual shape. It tumbled and accelerated as it left the Solar System. More notably, it appeared to originate from outside and merely passed by us.
While most scientists believe the object is a comet, Loeb asserts that it is “abandoned technology from an extraterrestrial civilization.” The object’s size, light reflection, and peculiar speed led the professor to this conclusion. Although the purpose remains unclear, Loeb speculates that the object is a navigational device in space.
However, both Avi Loeb and those with opposing views agree on one crucial issue: it is very difficult to explain the strangeness of Oumuamua without discovering additional intriguing phenomena that humanity has never explored. Loeb hopes that Oumuamua may “visit” Earth once again.
