Yesterday, on November 10th, the Ministry of Health officially announced that it has signed an agreement for the production of Tamiflu, containing Oseltamivir phosphate, in Vietnam with F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. from Switzerland.

According to the agreement, F. Hoffmann-La Roche will supply the raw materials and technical support to facilitate the production of the capsules containing the active ingredient in Vietnam as soon as possible. The company has also committed to assisting Vietnam in implementing a plan for drug stockpiling and providing medications for the treatment and prevention of influenza in case of an outbreak within the country.
Prof. Dr. Hoàng Thủy Long, a member of the National Steering Committee for Avian Influenza A H5N1 Prevention, stated that the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has successfully tested the A H5N1 influenza vaccine in primates and is in the process of completing human trials to soon move towards the production of an A H5N1 influenza vaccine for humans.
On the same day, two government working delegations led by Deputy Prime Ministers Phạm Gia Khiêm and Vũ Khoan conducted inspections on the prevention of avian influenza and the potential pandemic of influenza in humans in the cities of Hải Phòng and Bắc Ninh.
