What do you think about a pen that can read what your child writes and replay it through a speaker? This is precisely the new product launched earlier this week by Leapfrog, a company based in the USA. The pen, called Fly Pen, serves as both a toy and a computing device, designed for entertainment and educational purposes.
The pen is priced at $99.99 and is targeted at students aged 8 to 13. It features a small camera at the tip that tracks what you write and translates it into multiple languages. The pen communicates with users through a small speaker or headphones included with the product.
Additional Features of the Pen:
– Draw a computer on paper. Input calculations, and the pen will provide the results.
– Draw a small piano keyboard. When you press each key, the pen will produce the corresponding sound.
For more advanced educational functions, you will need to purchase a connector that attaches to the pen. Three connectors, priced between $24.99 and $34.99, will help you learn spelling, math, and Spanish.
A limitation of the pen is that it requires the special paper from Leapfrog, which features small printed dots that allow the camera to track the pen’s movements. This special paper measures 21×27.5 cm and costs $9.99 per pad.
The pen also supports a baseball game called Flyball, priced at $29.99. The game becomes more engaging with commentary coming from the pen.
