Long-distance couples, even those separated by thousands of miles, can now kiss each other with a lifelike sensation thanks to a high-tech silicone kissing device that connects to the internet and is priced at nearly 1 million VND.
To send a kiss, users need to download an app to their mobile phones and plug the device into the charging port. After pairing with their partner through the app, couples can start a video call and transmit replicas of their kisses to each other.
Equipped with pressure sensors and actuators, the device is said to mimic a real kiss by replicating the pressure, movement, and temperature of the user’s lips. Along with the kissing motion, it can also transmit sounds made by the user.
However, while many social media users find the humorous side of the device, others criticize it as “vulgar” and “creepy.” Some express concern that minors could purchase and use this “adult” device.

The kissing device is marketed as a way to share physical intimacy between long-distance couples.
The Chinese newspaper Global Times reported that the inventor of the long-distance kissing device was awarded a patent by the Chuangzhou Institute of Mechatronics Technology.
“In college, my girlfriend and I were in a long-distance relationship, so we only communicated via phone. That was the inspiration for creating this device,” said Jiang Zhongli, the chief inventor of the long-distance kissing device, to Global Times.
Jiang applied for the patent in 2019, but it expired in January 2023, and he hopes others can expand and improve the long-distance kissing device.

Although marketed for long-distance relationships, the device also allows users to anonymously pair with strangers through a “kissing lock” feature within the app. If two strangers successfully pair and like each other, they can request to exchange kisses.
Users can also upload their kisses to the app for others to download and experience.

On the largest online shopping platform in China, Taobao, dozens of users have shared their reviews of the device priced at 288 RMB (nearly 1 million VND).
A similar invention, “Kissinger,” was proposed by the Imagineering Institute in Malaysia in 2016. However, it took the form of a touch-sensitive silicone pad rather than lifelike lips. |
