The surface of a riverbank suddenly stirred, and after a moment, a creature emerged from its den. It turned out to be a mudskipper (Scientific name: Mastacembelidae).
The mudskipper was immediately eaten by a snakehead fish!
However, it did not expect that a large mouth was waiting for it just below the water. As soon as it dove into the water, it was swiftly caught by a predator. Surprisingly, there were not just one but many other mudskippers inside the den.
All of them were preyed upon by the creature below and had no chance of survival. This predator was a snakehead fish (Scientific name: Anabas testudineus). Snakehead fish are omnivorous, and they even eat each other; hence, when raising snakehead fish, people often have to separate them by size to prevent larger fish from swallowing smaller ones.
