Microsoft Word has become the “king” of text editors. Most documents are formatted and printed using Word. However, you may have some documents in PDF (Portable Document Format) that you want to edit before printing. Acrobat Reader does not have text editing capabilities, while Acrobat can be quite expensive and requires significant system resources. So, is there software available that can convert PDF formats to Word while maintaining the original formatting, is reasonably priced, and consumes minimal system resources?
In fact, preserving document formatting after conversion is very complex and challenging. Even Acrobat software does not perfectly convert PDF files to Word. However, if you have ever used SolidPDFConverter from Solid, you will find it excellent! Complex documents that include text, images, tables, and more retain their formatting after conversion to Word.
VietNamNet experimented with converting a complex document comprising images, charts, graphics, and interspersed text, approximately 70 pages long, using Adobe Acrobat and SolidPDFConverter. The result showed that SolidPDFConverter offered faster document conversion and retained the original document formatting more accurately than Acrobat.
However, when editing some text combined within tables and graphics, the results were not very satisfactory. Nevertheless, SolidPDFConverter remains a valuable tool with a relatively low price compared to the more robust and resource-intensive Acrobat software.
SolidPDFConverter has a simple interface that will help you convert .pdf files to .doc format quickly in just 5 steps:
Step 1: Choose the format
Select the PDF file you want to convert directly in the document search box of SolidPDFConverter. You can use the following options:
– Flowing: This mode maintains the layout, formatting, graphics, and text data of the pages.
– Continuous: This mode is for when you only need the content, not the exact presentation of the document. For instance, if your goal is to get content for pages of different sizes or for presentation software like PowerPoint or converting to HTML format. This mode analyzes the layout and columns to reconstruct the order of texts but only restores paragraph formatting, graphics, and text data.
– Plain Text: If you only need the text without any formatting or layout, use Plain Text. This option will restore character formatting, paragraph, or graphics but only retrieves text through column analysis and page layout.
– Exact: If you need a Word document that looks identical to the PDF? If you need to make minor changes to these files? Exact uses Word’s TextBox to ensure that the text and graphics remain exactly like the original PDF. This mode should not be used if you need to edit a lot of content from the converted document. It is useful for short texts with many graphics.
– Image Extraction: If you only need to extract images from the PDF file? SolidPDFConverter has an option to help you extract only the images and remove all text. You can save them in common image formats like BMP, JPEG, PNG, or TIF.
Step 2: Choose image anchoring styles
This step allows you to set the anchoring styles for images as you prefer. If you really need a text document without images and graphics, check Remove Image. If you need to combine images and text, SolidConverter offers the following image insertion modes: Automatic Anchor, Anchor Paragraph, Anchor Page. If you’re unsure which option is most suitable, leave it at the default, Automatic Anchor.
Step 3: Set character spacing
This step allows you to set the spacing between characters after conversion. For the best results, keep the option Keep character spacing selected.
Step 4: Choose the file format
Select the name of the file that will be saved after conversion. SolidConverter will convert it to a file with the .doc (Word) or .rtf (Rich Text Format) extension. To view the results immediately after conversion, you can choose to automatically open Word after the conversion is complete.
Step 5: Select pages to convert
If you have not registered, SolidConverter only allows the conversion of 10% of the total pages and a maximum of 10 pages for a document. However, you can still convert fairly large documents by using the page range options, from (From) to (To). If you have registered, you can convert the entire document in one go (All).
Next, click Next. To start the conversion process, click Finish. The conversion process will complete after a certain period.
If you have officially registered, SolidPDFConverter not only allows you to read PDF documents directly in Word and convert PDF documents right within Word but also has the capability to convert Word documents to PDF.
