Quang Nam: Vaccination Campaign for Poultry Yet to Start
On the afternoon of October 31, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, Deputy Head of the Quang Nam Veterinary Sub-Department, reported that while preparations for the vaccination campaign for poultry in the area were completed at the beginning of October, the vaccination has yet to be carried out after more than a month. The reason for this delay is the lack of H5N1 vaccine.
According to Mr. Nam, Quang Nam Province registered for 2.6 million doses of H5N2 vaccine (for chickens) and 400,000 doses of H5N1 vaccine (for ducks) since mid-September 2005, but has yet to receive them. To begin a pilot vaccination in some localities, the sub-department temporarily borrowed 20,000 doses from a pharmaceutical supplier to initiate vaccinations in Dai Loc and Tam Ky districts.
