The stomach can reveal more truths than standard physical heart rate measurement methods, according to scientists at the University of Texas (USA). Physical heart rate measurement detects changes in heart rate and sweat levels.
However, the stomach and intestines are much more sensitive to mental stress compared to the heart. Even if you are the world’s best and most experienced liar, your stomach still betrays your intentions more than your heart does.
Sixteen healthy volunteers participated in the study and were required to perform three tasks: 1/ Do nothing. 2/ Tell the truth. 3/ Lie. Their electrocardiograms were measured simultaneously alongside changes in their stomach and heart rate. Researchers found that the method of detecting lies through the stomach was more accurate.
