According to Sputnik (Russia), the new study was conducted on approximately 14,000 individuals aged between 100 and 107. Specifically, the scientists assessed the personality traits of the participants and found that those who lived longer shared 19 common characteristics, including: gratitude, enthusiasm for learning, activity, curiosity, and high intelligence.
The most prominent personality trait observed in centenarians is curiosity. Other traits such as humor, religious faith, cheerfulness, and courage were also considered important factors that contribute to their longevity. According to scientists, these personality traits are the “key” to maintaining a healthy body, especially mental health. Researchers are planning to continue studying this remarkable age group.
Analyzing the lifestyles of those who reach 100 years has highlighted factors that help older adults live healthily. Experts emphasize that nurturing curiosity, exploring different cultures, traveling, reading, and engaging in continuous intellectual activities are particularly significant factors that contribute to longevity and success.
Previous studies have also revealed that exercising one’s memory during youth contributes to maintaining memory capabilities in later years.
