The Department of Environmental Protection under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is piloting an environmental reporting information system and an industrial wastewater management fee system in four provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Thai Nguyen, and Quang Nam. This initiative aims to gradually expand the results and implement them nationwide by August 2006.
According to the Department of Environmental Protection, these two systems will enhance the accuracy of environmental information and reporting in management and decision-making processes regarding the environment from the central to local levels. They will also improve the timeliness of environmental information and knowledge, supporting businesses and individuals in proactively addressing environmental issues during production and business activities.
In the short term, these systems will meet the demand for environmental reporting data and wastewater fee management in three areas: surface water, coastal water, and air quality.
The Department of Environmental Protection is currently focused on completing two management information websites for these systems to facilitate installation at local Departments of Natural Resources and Environment. This will enable organizations and individuals engaged in industrial, handicraft, service, and environmental sectors to update environmental management information directly online or submit reports to local Departments of Natural Resources and Environment.
