The height of Mount Qomolangma, known as Everest, is currently measured at 8,844.43 meters above sea level. This measurement was obtained by Chinese scientists during their most recent expedition to the world’s highest mountain.
This data was released by the China National Geological Agency on October 9th.
Consequently, the mountain’s height has decreased by 3.7 meters compared to the previous measurement recorded. In 1975, Everest was recorded at a height of 8,848.13 meters above sea level.
According to researchers’ conclusions, the primary cause of this decrease in height is attributed to the phenomenon of global warming, which accelerates the melting of glaciers and the occurrence of avalanches on the high ice peaks.
