Currently, there is an unprecedented hurricane event occurring in history: Three hurricanes are simultaneously active in the Atlantic Ocean this October. Among them, Hurricane Milton is the most powerful and poses the greatest potential for destruction. This underscores the unpredictable and unusual nature of extreme weather phenomena worldwide.
Hurricane Milton has made history as it marks the first time that three hurricanes are active at the same time in the Atlantic during October.
In addition to Hurricane Milton, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is forecasted to make landfall in Florida (USA) within the next two days, the other two storms are Hurricane Kirk and Hurricane Leslie – which may remain over the ocean without making landfall, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the United States.
Senior hurricane researcher Philip Klotzbach from Colorado State University stated that in the past 170 years, there has never been a time when three hurricanes were simultaneously active in the Atlantic after September. While such occurrences may happen in August and September, they have not been recorded from October until the end of the year, based on NHC data since 1851.

The NHC emphasizes that this unprecedented event indicates that the annual hurricane season anywhere on Earth is becoming increasingly unpredictable and concerning. Typically, hurricane activity in the Atlantic begins to decline in October, but this year’s pattern deviates from the historical meteorological norms.

Super Hurricane Milton, the strongest storm among the three mentioned, is also a storm that is breaking records. This “once-in-a-lifetime” storm is heading toward Florida (USA) and is forecasted to make landfall today (Wednesday) (Thursday morning, Vietnam time), directly impacting the heavily populated city of Tampa. Authorities believe that the effects of Hurricane Milton could be “devastating.”
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri near Tampa warned about Hurricane Milton: “It’s going to be really bad. That’s all you need to know. Everyone needs to evacuate.”
