On November 20, fisherman Trần Quân (residing in Thuận An Ward, Huế City, Thừa Thiên – Huế Province) reported that he had just recovered a round mass, suspected to be ambergris, which is highly valuable.
The object discovered by fishermen in Huế is suspected to be ambergris.
According to observations, the exterior of this mass is grayish-white, while the inside is pale pink, flexible, and has a pleasant aroma.
This object weighs nearly 3 kg and is currently being preserved by Mr. Quân at his home.
Mr. Quân stated that 10 days ago, while fishing about 90 nautical miles off the coast of Quảng Trị, the crew members on his boat accidentally spotted a white object floating on the water and brought it aboard.
After retrieving it, Mr. Quân stored the mass in a cold storage to continue his fishing activities. To date, the object has not melted and continues to emit a strong fragrance.
The mass has a grayish-white exterior, pale pink interior, is flexible, and has a pleasant aroma.
According to research, ambergris is a waxy substance produced in the digestive system of sperm whales. It is used in the perfume industry and is highly valued.
