After Typhoons Yagi and Bebinca, China is expected to face 1-2 more typhoons before October.
According to China’s Weather Network (Weather.com), in the next 10 days leading up to the National Day holiday (October 1), one or two typhoons are expected to form in the South China Sea and the Northwest Pacific, with one likely to affect the southeastern coastal region of the country. This means that China could experience one typhoon each week.

While the effects of Typhoon Bebinca are still ongoing, the latest forecast from the National Meteorological Center of China (NMC) released on the morning of September 18 indicates that Typhoon Pulasan will move into the eastern part of the East China Sea tonight and make landfall on the coast of Zhejiang from the afternoon to evening of tomorrow (September 19) as a tropical storm or a strong tropical storm. As a result of the typhoon, several areas in Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong provinces will experience moderate to heavy rain from September 18 to 20.
According to the agency, due to the influence of a tropical depression forming in the South China Sea that is moving quickly westward and strengthening, Hainan Island will experience heavy to very heavy rain today.
It is known that Typhoon Pulasan has a movement pattern similar to that of Typhoon Bebinca, but due to the influence of cold air, forecasting will become more complicated.
Previously, Typhoon Bebinca, the strongest storm to hit Shanghai since 1949, caused flooding, uprooted trees, and resulted in power outages, leaving at least one person injured in the city and two fatalities in Jiangsu province due to electrocution.
As a result of Typhoon Bebinca and its circulation, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Shandong provinces in Eastern China, as well as Henan province in Central China, have become areas at medium to high risk of natural disasters. On September 18, Henan, Anhui, and Shandong provinces are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain.
Experts also remind residents in Henan and Anhui provinces to be cautious of flooding, flash floods, geological disasters, and inundation caused by localized heavy rain on medium and small rivers.
