Recently, many social media forums have been sharing a short clip capturing the image of a massive waterspout appearing over the waters of Phu Quoc, Kien Giang.
According to reports, a resident of Duong To commune in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang, discovered this waterspout around 2:20 PM on September 11 at the Truong Beach area.
Massive waterspout appears over the waters of Phu Quoc.
In the recorded clip, the waterspout rises to hundreds of meters above the sea at Truong Beach, surrounded by dark clouds. The tail of the waterspout draws close to the surface of the sea, and then it gradually moves towards the shoreline. The swirling winds caused many beach umbrellas to topple over, and coconut palms were bent and swayed by the gusts.
Fortunately, at the time the waterspout occurred, there were no tourists swimming or boats anchored in the area. Therefore, no casualties were reported.
This phenomenon lasted for about 15 minutes, and many local residents and tourists who witnessed it were quite surprised.
This is not the first time a waterspout has been observed in the waters of Phu Quoc. Previously, on the morning of October 23, 2017, a waterspout measuring 5 to 7 meters suddenly appeared at An Thoi fishing port, causing significant damage to many boats anchored there.
Furthermore, a similar phenomenon was also reported in the waters of Phu Quoc in 2020.
