Astronauts from four countries are preparing to board SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) on August 25, carrying out a mission assigned by NASA.
According to the plan, this seventh crew will launch to the International Space Station (ISS) on August 25 using the Dragon spacecraft powered by a Falcon 9 rocket. The international crew includes NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, Andreas Mogensen from the European Space Agency, Konstantin Borisov from Russia, and Satoshi Furukawa from Japan.
NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli will serve as the commander of the crew. The 40-year-old U.S. Navy officer has been with NASA since 2017 and will be the second Iranian-American to fly into space.

According to NASA’s records, Moghbeli was born in Bad Nauheim, Germany, but considers Baldwin, New York, USA, her hometown. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Upon joining NASA, she completed over 150 combat missions and logged 2,000 flight hours across 25 types of aircraft. After undergoing basic training with NASA, she focused on supporting the development of the Artemis crewed lunar landing system. Subsequently, she was assigned to participate in this seventh crew mission to the ISS.
Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen is a member of the European Space Agency. Previously, he was a researcher at the University of Surrey in the UK, specializing in spacecraft control and lunar landing systems.
He holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of London and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas, USA. This mission will be his second flight into space.
Mogensen’s first trip to space was a 10-day mission in 2015 aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft, making him the first Dane to travel into space.
Russian specialist Konstantin Borisov has 13 years of experience working for Volvo Vostok in roles such as analyst, consultant, and project manager before joining Roscosmos as a spaceflight candidate in 2018. This seventh crew mission will be his first foray into space exploration.
Borisov was born in Smolensk, Russia. At 39 years old, he is the youngest member of this flight. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Russian Economic University, a Master’s degree in Operations Research and Systems Analysis from the University of Warwick in the UK, and a Master’s degree in Science from the Moscow Institute of Aviation.
In January 2021, he was officially assigned to a spaceflight mission. Standard training for long-duration space missions typically takes about 2 to 2.5 years, which coincides with the time since Borisov qualified to become an astronaut.
Therefore, his work history does not mention any experiences beyond the basic training that all astronauts must undergo.
Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa is a former medical doctor and astronaut with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). In 2011, he flew to the ISS for 165 days. This seventh crew mission will mark his second assignment in space.
He was born in Yokohama, Japan. After earning his M.D. from the University of Tokyo, he worked in clinical medicine and digestive surgery research in various hospitals in Japan and was selected as a spaceflight candidate in 1999.
He has decades of experience supporting the development of Japan’s Kibo module for operations on the ISS and serves as the head of JAXA’s space biomedical research team.
