Instead of using a syringe to draw blood as is customary, nurses can simply use a device to scan the patient’s eyes for a few seconds and receive immediate, accurate results.

Reporters in Tel Aviv have stated that scientists at Sheba Medical Center in Israel have just invented a blood testing method that does not require a syringe.
According to the research team, this will be the world’s first blood testing method that does not require a sample to be taken. Instead, nurses simply need to use a device to scan the patient’s eyes for a few seconds and receive accurate results immediately.
Current blood testing methods require using a syringe to extract a certain amount of blood from the arm or finger of the person being tested, followed by sending the blood sample to a laboratory to measure the levels of various components in the blood or count different types of blood cells.
The Times of Israel quotes Mr. Harel Baris, one of the research team members, stating that with this device, patients do not need to go to the hospital for blood tests; they can simply perform the test at home and then send the results as information to their doctor. This not only saves time and effort but also makes the treatment process easier for patients.
In the near future, the research team plans to send this device to the space station for experiments in a microgravity environment, thereby accelerating the process of refining the new device.
