To create nap spaces everywhere, a Japanese company has invented a standing sleep box called Giraffenap and installed them in cafes across the country.

According to Oddity Central, the name Giraffenap is inspired by the standing sleep position of giraffes. This invention aims to provide users with a space to rest after long working hours. With its unique design, people can take a nap in the Giraffenap box for about 20 minutes. Such short naps help relieve stress, enhance focus, maintain memory, and improve work performance.
One of the main reasons for designing the Giraffenap sleep box in an upright position is to save space. Installing this device in small cafes and restaurants is easier because it occupies very little area. However, that’s not the only reason. Maintaining a standing position seems to help users of the sleep box wake up more easily after each short nap.

Each Giraffenap sleep box is equipped with an alarm system that users can set. The box also features support points for various body parts—such as the head, buttocks, calves, and feet—to ensure that users maintain an upright position while napping. Additionally, the sleep box has an adjustable height system, allowing anyone to comfortably nap in the perfect position.
The Giraffenap sleep box currently comes in two variants—a plain white model and a traditional wood design. Both have excellent soundproofing capabilities, integrated ventilation systems, and are equipped with various sounds to help users fall asleep easily.

The Giraffenap is currently installed in several cafes in Japan. If the sleep box is positively received, this invention may appear in many other locations.
