Kaoru Mamija, Vice President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, has affirmed that Japan is ready to assist Vietnam in training experts in the field of space technology and believes that the two countries should soon sign a cooperation agreement on space science for peaceful purposes and development.
During a meeting with Vice President Kaoru Mamija on November 7 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Thang stated that space technology is a very new field of science in Vietnam. Therefore, international cooperation, especially with Japan – a nation with a highly developed space science sector – is extremely important for Vietnam.
Currently, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology is urgently completing the draft of the Vietnam Space Technology Strategy for the period 2006-2020, with a total estimated budget of around 2 billion USD.
