Ben Tre: Ban on New Breeding of Waterfowl and Pet Birds
The Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee has issued a directive to the chairpersons of districts and towns to urgently implement measures against the H5N1 avian flu for both poultry and humans: a complete suspension of all egg incubation and new breeding of waterfowl and pet birds until the end of February 2006. During this period, all newly hatched waterfowl and eggs found at incubation facilities, markets within the province, or illegally imported into the province will be destroyed without compensation. Mandatory vaccinations or destruction without compensation will apply to cases that violate avian flu prevention regulations, such as failing to declare the number of poultry, relocating, or transporting flocks to evade vaccination.
