The Guinness World Records has awarded the title of the shortest living male to Dor Bahadur Khapangi, an 18-year-old who stands at just 73.43 cm tall.
The certificate recognizing Khapangi as the “shortest living male” was established on March 23.
Dor Bahadur Khapangi received his certificate at a ceremony organized by the Guinness World Records on May 25 in the capital city of Kathmandu.
Born on November 14, 2004, in Sindhuli, Nepal, Khapangi suffers from a rare condition that caused him to stop growing at an early age.
To get to Kathmandu for the award, Khapangi required assistance from family members who carried him to the venue.
The young man was photographed and interviewed by numerous photographers and media present at the ceremony.
Khapangi is the youngest child in a farming family and studies at a local school. His brother hopes that the recognition from the Guinness World Records will help with his younger brother’s education.
Nara Bhadur Khapangi, Dor Bahadur’s brother, stated: “My brother was completely normal at birth. But since he was seven years old, he has not grown. His peers have all grown taller, but Dor Bahadur has not.”
This record was previously held by Khagendra Thapa Magar, also from Nepal. Khagendra, born in October 1992, measured only 65.58 cm in height. However, he passed away at the age of 27 in 2020.
