According to SVT, researcher Ignat Kulkov from Malardalen University (MDU) indicated that scientists predict human lifespan could increase to 100 to 120 years within the next 50 years or longer, at least in developed countries.
Explaining the research conducted with colleagues from universities in Finland, France, and the UK, expert Kulkov suggested that older individuals could be as healthy as those in their 40s, largely due to the rapid development of technology.
Researcher Kulkov also noted that more people are wearing health monitoring devices connected to doctors and hospitals.
These devices will assist doctors in making recommendations for lifestyle changes to improve health and extend lifespan.
Scientists have also discovered that advancements in various fields contribute to increasing human lifespan.
Expert Kulkov further mentioned that the experiences gained from responding to the COVID-19 pandemic will enhance virus tracking, while AI is applied for faster diagnostics and the development of new treatment methods.
Mr. Kulkov believes that personalized medicine, with tailored medications for individuals, is also expected to improve health outcomes.
However, he warned that new challenges, such as climate change, could significantly impact healthcare systems and human lives, not only in the future but also in the present.
