Cold air continues to cause rain and even tornadoes in some areas of the Northern and Central regions. The cold air compressing the low-pressure trough is also causing adverse weather conditions in the Gulf of Tonkin and offshore Central Vietnam.
The Central Meteorological Forecasting Center reported that from the evening of May 3, cold air has affected the eastern Northern region and some areas of the western Northern region and North Central region. Rain, scattered showers, and thunderstorms have occurred in the Northern region.
By May 4, this cold air front will continue to impact most provinces in the western Northern region and North Central region. The Hanoi area will continue to see scattered rain. Due to the influence of cold air compressing the low-pressure trough, the Gulf of Tonkin and northern East Sea area (including the waters of the Paracel Islands) will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms from the evening of May 3. The sea will be rough, and there is a need to be cautious of tornadoes during thunderstorms. The North Central region will also experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with a warning for possible tornadoes and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
Meteorological experts state that over the next two days, the northern provinces will remain under the influence of cold air, resulting in scattered rain and maintaining a cool weather state throughout the region. Meanwhile, the weather over the northern and central coastal waters will continue to be poor.
