It is forecasted that following the cold air front that swept through our country last night and this morning, around March 9-10, the northern region will welcome another wave of stronger cold air, resulting in cold weather for the coming days. Starting tonight, the northern region will also experience scattered light rain.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that early this morning (March 7), the cold air had impacted most of the northeastern provinces. In the Gulf of Tonkin, there were northeast winds reaching level 5, at times level 6, with gusts up to level 7.
Forecast for the day and night of March 7, the cold air will continue to affect other areas in the northern and north-central regions. Northeast winds on land will be at levels 2-3, while coastal areas will experience level 3 winds.
This morning, the cold air has affected most of the northeastern provinces.
Due to the influence of the cold air, the northern region will be mostly cloudy today, with some light rain in a few places. From tonight, there will be scattered light rain. The lowest temperatures during the day and night will range from 12-15 degrees Celsius in the mountainous areas, and some places may drop below 10 degrees. Other areas in the northern region will see temperatures from 15-18 degrees.
On March 8, the northern region will maintain temperatures similar to today, with light rain and drizzle scattered throughout.
Forecast for around March 9-10, the northern region will receive another cold air surge combined with an upper-level wind convergence zone. Therefore, the northern region may continue to experience persistent cold weather until around March 10. It is expected that from March 11, temperatures in the northern region will gradually increase, with cold conditions only at night and in the morning.
Along with the significant drop in temperatures, the northern region will experience fog, drizzle, and light rain, with humid and damp weather lasting until mid-March.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting noted that this year, the northern region will welcome the first half of March with more fog, drizzle, and light rain than the average of previous years.
It is forecasted that only in the latter half of March, with the strong development of the hot low-pressure system to the west, will the northern region experience several days of warm sunshine, and the northwest mountainous area may see hot weather.
From Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, due to the impact of two cold air fronts, scattered rain may occur from the night of March 7-8 and on March 11-12. Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh may experience cold nights and mornings with the lowest temperatures ranging from 16-19 degrees.
