Heavy rain has been continuously falling since around 3 AM on August 26, causing widespread flooding in various areas of Hai Phong City, making it difficult for residents to reach their workplaces.

According to reports from our correspondent, the heaviest rainfall recorded this year began around 3 AM on August 26, resulting in severe flooding on many streets in the city center.
Flooding occurred on almost all streets in the districts of Hong Bang, Le Chan, Ngo Quyen, and Kien An, with water levels averaging from 40 cm to nearly 1 meter.
Some of the severely flooded streets include Lach Tray, Cau Dat, To Hieu, Luong Khanh Thien, Da Nang, and the area around Nga Nam, where thousands of households experienced water entering their homes, affecting daily life.

The Hai Phong Drainage Company mobilized over 200 staff members to open manhole covers to quickly drain the water and ensure smooth traffic during peak hours. However, by 9 AM on August 26, the roads were still heavily flooded.
Local residents described the rain that began early on August 26 as a historic downpour, resulting in widespread flooding across Hai Phong City.
Those who attempted to leave their homes for work encountered “seas of water,” leading to many vehicles stalling. Even parked on the sidewalks, motorcycles were submerged halfway up their wheels.
