The phenomenon of “three-bloom lotus” is extremely rare in nature and has been observed in Thai Châu Town, Zhejiang Province, eastern China.
As summer arrives, lotus flowers bloom across Zhejiang Province in China. This year’s lotus season in Thai Châu Town has attracted additional attention from flower enthusiasts and photographers due to the appearance of a three-bloom lotus stem.

The phenomenon of double or triple blooming – also known as multi-headed lotus – is very rare worldwide. According to China News, the chance of two lotus flowers appearing on the same stem is only 1 in 100,000, but this ratio is still much higher than that of three blooms.
Scientists have yet to successfully cultivate multi-headed lotus due to a lack of understanding of the genetic mechanisms involved. Therefore, they only exist in natural conditions.

With its elegant beauty, the lotus flower is highly favored in China and is often planted in ponds for ornamental purposes. In some countries like Vietnam and India, the lotus is even chosen as the national flower. The best time to enjoy blooming lotus is from mid to late June.
