British American Tobacco (BAT), one of the largest tobacco companies in the world, has announced that it is developing a safer type of cigarette.
Emily Brand, a spokesperson for BAT, stated: ”We are working hard to create a product that is less hazardous.”
She explained that the creation of a safer cigarette, through the use of different types of filters or additives to reduce harmful substances that come into contact with the lungs, is just one of many new product ideas the company is exploring.
Currently, BAT’s only product that can reduce the risk of heart and lung disease is a type of chewing gum rather than a smoking product.
BAT produces well-known cigarette brands such as Lucky Strike, Kent, Dunhill, and Pall Mall.
