A painting from 1882 has recently sparked a time travel theory after a special detail was discovered.
The Daily Star has put forth a rather unbelievable theory regarding a piece of art created in 1882 by two painters, R. Josey and James Archer. The painting is titled “The Betrothal.”
The painting depicts the betrothal ceremony of a famous poet and his lover.
It is believed that this painting portrays the betrothal of the famous Scottish poet – Robert Burns and a woman named Mary Campbell, who was his lover. This moment is thought to capture their exchange of love vows and announcement of their marriage plans by the River Ayr in western Scotland in 1786. The scene in the painting shows the couple standing by the river, gazing affectionately at each other while their hands touch a rectangular black object.
However, after the painting was enlarged tenfold, it prompted art enthusiasts to pause and reflect, particularly focusing on the rectangular, rounded object. Although it seems quite unbelievable, some people suggest that this object resembles a modern Apple smartphone.
The object speculated to be a modern smartphone.
After this theory emerged, significant attention was drawn to the painting, and many marveled at the concept of “time travel.” However, in response to this rather far-fetched theory, many provided a simpler explanation for the mysterious object, suggesting that it is actually a Bible.
According to an ancient Scottish tradition, when exchanging vows, both individuals would demonstrate their sincerity and faith and commemorate the occasion by exchanging a Bible over a flowing stream. Therefore, it seems that the mysterious black rectangle in the painting could very well be a religious text rather than a bizarre omen of the future.
