The launch took place at 6:20 AM Moscow time on August 15 (10:20 AM the same day in Vietnam) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
Progress MS-28 is expected to dock with the International Space Station (ISS) at 8:56 AM on August 17 Moscow time (12:56 PM the same day in Vietnam).
This spacecraft will attach to the Zvezda service module of the ISS and deliver a total of 2,621 kg of cargo.
For its resupply mission to the ISS, Progress MS-28 is carrying 950 kg of refueling supplies, 420 liters of drinking water, and 50 kg of compressed nitrogen. It also brings food, clothing, and equipment for scientific experiments.
Notably, Progress MS-28 is also transporting the SPIN-X1-MVN X-ray spectrometer, which will be installed on the exterior of the Zvezda module during an upcoming spacewalk by astronauts.
This device will allow scientists to conduct periodic surveys of nearly the entire sky in the X-ray spectrum.
Additionally, the cargo aboard the spacecraft includes other equipment enabling astronauts to carry out new scientific experiments.
